If there is one word that best captures Tours In Singapore, it is “unique”. A dynamic city rich in contrast and colour, you’ll find a harmonious blend of culture, cuisine, arts and architecture here. Brimming with unbridled energy, this little dynamo in Southeast Asia embodies the finest of both East and West.

A single day’s trail will take you from the past to the future, from exotic ethnic enclave to efficient business centre, from serene gardens to sleek skyscrapers.

Start your day with a hearty breakfast amidst lush vegetation with Singapore’s very own orang utans. Then take a step back in time as you enter a traditional Chinese temple, Muslim mosque, Hindu temple and Christian church – all in the same neighbourhood. Tours In Singapore

Return to the present by strolling down Orchard Road, picking up the latest fashion trends and entertaining local catch phrases along the way.

A simple meal is made memorable when drifting along the Singapore Sightseeing River on a traditional bumboat. Step off the boat and get catapulted 60 metres into the air on a reverse bungy ride! More laughter and fun is in store if you board an amphibious “duck” to explore the city, in the company of its wacky guides.

After a day of excitement, retreat into the peaceful sanctuary of our acclaimed spa, just a stone’s throw away from the best business facilities in the world.

When recharged, give yourself at least an hour to enjoy a customary Chinese tea ceremony before you step into a world-class venue to catch a Broadway musical.

With its friendly and welcoming people, state-of-the-art infrastructure and something new happening everyday, Tours In Singapore is a holiday like no other. For all your Travel Singapore needs log on to the premier Singapore Travel web portal.

Singapore offers a wide variety of accommodation types to suit all budgets and preferences. They range from backpacker, budget and youth hostels to boutique and five-star hotels.

Most hotels come with standard facilities like International Direct Dial (IDD) phones, internet and cable, room service, mini bars, data ports for modem, no-smoking rooms or floors, and business and fitness centres furnished with the latest equipment.

Singapore Hotels

To find the perfect accommodation for your stay in Singapore, use our accommodation search engine or Singapore Hotels Directory. All accommodation categories listed in this website will provide full information such as rates, contact details and facilities. Location map and fact sheets are also provided for your easy reference.

RATES AND RESERVATION

All rates listed in this website are published rates, furnished by the respective hotels. As most hotels have promotional rates available from time to time, we recommend that you check directly with the hotel before making any reservations. Alternatively, you can search for current accommodation promotions through our booking online link.

We strongly advise you to make advance reservations to avoid disappointment. Most major credit cards are accepted and you may be required to leave a credit card imprint or number upon check-in. Please note that rates are quoted in Singapore Dollars and maybe subject to a 10% service charge, 7% Goods and Services Tax (GST).

If you arrive in Singapore without prior hotel reservations, the SHA counters at the Singapore Changi Airport can help you with hotel bookings. To book your hotel stay in Singapore log on to the premier Singapore Hotels page on the web.

Daily opening hours of SHA counters at Terminal 1

East Counter: 1000 hrs ? 2330 hrs

West Counter: 24 hours

Daily opening hours of SHA counters at Terminal 2

North Counter: 0700 hrs ? 2300 hrs

South Counter: 24 hours

GETTING TO YOUR HOTEL

You can reach every corner of the island with Singapores modern public transportation system. Taxis are abundant and affordable, the bus network and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) rail system are both efficient and reliable. Detailed information on bus routes, MRT stations and fares can be found in the TransitLink Guide, a copy of which can be purchased at bus interchanges, MRT Stations and major bookstores.

Another convenient way to travel to and from Singapore Changi Airport is to take the MaxiCab, a six-seater taxi shuttle service operating daily from 0600 hrs to midnight. The shuttle service stops at Concorde Hotel Singapore, Crown Prince Hotel Singapore, Excelsior Peninsula Hotel, and Marina Mandarin Singapore. The shuttle offers a flexible routing system between Singapore Changi Airport and almost all hotels within the city. Bookings can be made at the service counters at the airports arrival hall. ( Singapore Sightseeing Tours )

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION

Tipping

This practice is optional but always appreciated.

Hotel Phone Services

Most hotels offer in-room International Direct Dial (IDD) telephone services. However, some hotels may charge a minimum 30-cent successful call transaction surcharge. As there are different IDD service providers in Singapore, rates and access codes are dependent on the service provider used by hotel. Generally, local calls are charged at 10 cents for every three minutes.

* Arts & Culture

* Singapore Attractions

* Sports & Recreation

Attractions

Attractions Despite its small size, there are many things to see, do and experience in Singapore. Even Singaporeans who have lived most of their lives in their home country constantly discover new things about their rich cultural heritage and explore new spaces being evolved as part of the city’s vibrancy.

In fact, Singapore’s rich cultural artefacts, interesting historical monuments, idyllic nature spots and fun tropical spaces make the country an exciting leisure destination, indoors or outdoors.

These are just a few of the exciting attractions that dot the island:

Singapore River Festival

Don’t miss the Singapore River Festival as it comes alive with its exciting line-up of performances that include a dazzling bumboat parade, a romantic dance musical and magnificent aerial performances. This extravagant celebration of water, heritage and entertainment offers free nightly events and activities, all happening on and along the river itself. The wide array of food and beverage establishments available will round up the festive atmosphere as revelers soak in a magical nightlife experience.

Check out the official Singapore River Festival website for more information.

Sentosa

Sentosa One of the city’s livelier spots is undoubtedly Sentosa, a sun-kissed paradise in the tropics which has more than enough attractions and activities to delight everyone! You can learn about Singapore’s past at the heritage centre, enjoy the lush greenery at the nature park and explore the themed attractions, which are dotted all over this island.

Singapore Flyer

Singapore FlyerIf it’s an unbeatable “rooftop” view of the Singapore skyline that you want, hop on board the Singapore Flyer, our very own observation wheel which stands at a staggering height of 165 metres. As the capsule you’re in ascends, you may even catch sight of our closest neighbours, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Animal Kingdom

Singapore Zoo

Another sunny spot to head down to is the Singapore Zoo. If you’re early, you can catch breakfast with an orang utan, or lend your shoulder to an affectionate python. These are just a few encounters you’ll get at Singapore’s highly acclaimed 28-hectare “open” zoo which houses over 3,200 mammals, birds, reptiles and fishes.

Night Safari

Night SafariIf you’re an animal lover but can’t bear the heat of the midday sun, take a trip to Singapore’s Night Safari to enjoy wildlife under the moonlight. The night zoo is home to 900 over animals of 135 unusual species, and simulates tropical landscapes such as the African savannah, Nepalese river valley, Southeast Asian rainforest, South American pampas and Burmese jungle.

Nature in Singapore

Nature in SingaporeSuch devotion to nature is extended across Singapore to its reservoirs, parks, gardens, and nature reserves. Visit the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve a lush primary rainforest which lies just 12km from the city centre. For more respite from the city, take a tree-top walk and enjoy the flora and fauna in MacRitchie Reservoir. If the sea view is what you’re after, head to the Changi Boardwalk, a 1.2km scenic coastal boardwalk with views of the sea and Pulau Ubin, and see heritage trees along the way.

Marina Barrage

Marina BarrageMake it a point to visit Singapore’s latest downtown icon, the Marina Barrage – a 350-metre dam built across the Marina Channel to keep out seawater, forming Singapore’s first reservoir in the city. It brings the total number of reservoirs in Singapore to 15.

More than just another reservoir to boost Singapore’s water supply, the steady water level in the Marina basin makes it ideal for boating, windsurfing, kayaking, dragon-boating, etc. The area also makes a perfect backdrop for water-based arts performances, cultural events and sporting competitions.

Gardens by the Bay
Comprising three waterfront gardens in the Marina Bay area, this attraction will open in 2010. Aside from adding to the beauty and impact of the bay area, these gardens are part of Singapore’s journey to becoming ‘A City in a Garden’.

Some of the Gardens’ main features are, believe it or not, SuperTrees – tree-like structures that measure between 9 and 16 storeys high! These vertical gardens will come alive at night with lighting and displays while providing shade and shelter in the day.
Pulau Ubin

Chek JawaTravel by a bumboat from Changi Point to one of Singapore’s quaint offshore islands for an off the beaten track experience. The rustic villages complete with coconut plantations, mangroves and isolated beaches allow a peek into the life of Singaporeans back in the ‘kampung’ days.

Bike rentals are available for those who wish to discover the sights and sounds of the island. Alternatively, get closer to nature by foot or join guided tours that are regularly conducted by volunteers.

Be sure to discover Chek Jawa, a unique coastal line that lies at the eastern tip of Pulau Ubin. This fragile marine habitat is rich with a variety of thriving ecosystems, an environment that is increasingly uncommon in Singapore.

St. John’s Island

Just 15 minutes away from the city centre, this island is home to a large variety of reefs, hard and soft corals. Parts of St. John’s Island are open to the public and visitors can find swimming lagoons, trekking routes, soccer fields and picnic grounds for recreation. Camping facilities and chalets are also available for those who wish to stay overnight on the island.

East Coast Park

East Coast ParkHealth-conscious nature lovers can work up a sweat at this park by the sea. Its landscaped terrains make East Coast Park one of Singapore’s favourite spots to bike or rollerblade; the equipment is available for rent at kiosks there. If you’d rather take the excitement indoors, there are always tennis complexes, the bowling alley, a golf driving range, the East Coast Sailing Centre and a water sports centre nearby.

Suburban hangouts

Changi Village

Changi VillageAt the eastern tip of Singapore, life goes on at a relaxed pace in Changi Village, in stark contrast to the fast pace of the city. All that changes over the weekend when locals and tourists alike make a beeline there, to head for the beach, take walks around the lush green neighbourhood, visit Changi Chapel & Museum, or catch a ferry to Pulau Ubin.

Some go there for local shopping, to stroll on the Changi Boardwalk, or just to grab a bite. Food centres and restaurants abound in the “village”, which is famed for lip-smacking local fare, especially nasi lemak and fresh seafood.

Wessex Estate

This quiet neighbourhood off Portsdown Road will feel like a secret find. The original colonial-style apartments and houses, nestled in tropical greenery, are homes to creative cottage industries, cosy restaurants and chic bistros. Take bus no. 191, hop off and walk – yes, that’s the only way to get there, short of catching a taxi.

Get into the groove and party all night in the city that’s well on its way to becoming a clubbing hotspot of Asia.

Most nightspots are just a short taxi ride from each other – perfect for bar-hopping, shopping, feasting, and an endless night of partying..

Nightlife in Singapore

Clubbing

ClubbingAt nights, and especially on the weekends, you’ll see a mix of locals and tourists hitting the clubs in full force.

Two popular areas are Boat Quay and Clarke Quay. Their lanes were once lined with old Chinese warehouses and shophouses. They have since been given a new lease of life and now form a vital part of Singapore’s pulsating nightlife.

The demand for new nightlife trends has led to a burst of new spots offering live, visually-rich entertainment. Zirca, The Arena, and The Bellini Grande, all in Clarke Quay, feature dance, magic and big-band performances respectively.

St James Power Station is a one-stop powerhouse for nightbirds, offering several kinds of clubs for different clubbing and music tastes under one roof.

Themed nights at clubs like Zouk, Café del Mar and Helipad are perfect for niche crowds.

Shopping at night

Shopping at nightSingapore’s safe streets make it a pleasure to shop even at night. It is not called a shopping paradise for nothing! For a unique evening shopping experience, scout around for great bargains at ethnic quarters such as Little India and Chinatown, which truly come alive at night.

The stores and malls along Orchard Road, Singapore’s Champs Elysee, are open till 9.30pm on most nights. Late-night shopping on Saturdays will indulge you till 11pm.

The largest mall in Singapore, Vivo City, situated just across a lane from the St James Power Station clubbing hub, comes with over 300 shops and restaurants, and a 15-screen cineplex, making it perfect for a night out for dining, shopping and the movies. The promenade also offers great views of Sentosa island at night.

River rides

River ridesView the romantic skyline of Singapore by hopping on board an enchanting river cruise or a traditional bumboat at night. You could relive the original splendour of old Singapore when cruising down Singapore River with its restored century-old godowns and shophouses on the banks. Capture gorgeous photo memories with some of Singapore’s iconic buildings in the background, such as the Asian Civilisations Museum and its towering bank buildings. Take a fun ride in the River Taxis as you go from one quay to another Contact Singapore River Cruises & Leisure and Singapore Explorer for more details.

Night Safari

If you’re after a wild night out of a different kind, take a trip to Singapore’s Night Safari to enjoy wildlife under the moonlight. The night zoo is home to over 900 animals of 135 unusual species, and simulates tropical landscapes such as the African savannah, Nepalese river valley, Southeast Asian rainforest, South American pampas and Burmese jungle.

Upcoming attractions

To add to the buzz of this vibrant city, two integrated resorts will be up and ready by 2010, offering round-the-clock entertainment.

The Marina Bay Sands will offer world-class entertainment in the forms of two 2,000-seat theatres and the ArtScience museum, among other firsts in Singapore.

Hot on its heels will be the second integrated resort project, Resorts World at Sentosa, which includes a Universal Studios theme park, the world’s largest oceanarium as well as gaming facilities.

Renowned as a shopping paradise, Singapore boasts an unrivalled selection of shopping options. From the famous Orchard Road lined with endless numbers of high-end boutiques and major department stores, to ethnic precincts like Geylang Serai, you’ll find lots to choose from at the various shopping areas in Singapore.

For cultural gifts, step right into some of Singapore’s artsy spots. Nestled in areas such as Holland Village, Chinatown, Little India and Tanglin Shopping Centre are quaint stores offering a wide array of Asian-themed antiques, paintings, souvenirs and curios.

Shopping malls

Shopping mallsAmong Singapore’s many malls, VivoCity is the largest. Just a 5-minute jaunt from Sentosa (take the Sentosa Express light rail system), it boasts of more than 300 retailers, an outdoor amphitheatre, a 20,000 sq.ft. open plaza and a 300m harbour front promenade – making it Singapore’s largest retail, entertainment and lifestyle destination.

For more focused shopping, be sure to check out Singapore’s IT shopping scene that’s jam-packed along the aisles of Sim Lim Square and Funan Digitalife Mall. A wide range of computer-related goods and accessories are scattered across different levels of both buildings.

Gadget geeks will find the area around Funan Digitalife Mall worth further exploration. Across the road at The Adelphi, audiophiles can find a rich number of shops dealing in respected hi-fi brands, while Peninsula Plaza is home to established camera shops such as Cathay Photo Store.

Opt for a more casual shopping experience and head over to Bugis. Parco Bugis Junction is Singapore’s first glass-covered, air-conditioned shopping complex, set in a nostalgic architectural surrounding. It houses a Cineplex and various affordable fashion outlets, jewelry stores, and even electrical appliances shops.

Alternatively, cross over to the Bugis Street Market for more streetwear and eclectic fashion options. This bazaar is especially popular with youth for its wide and relatively cheap range of apparel, shoes, accessories and touristy knick knacks. Prepare to jostle your way through the crowd as it gets especially busy during the weekends.

Don’t miss Singapore’s own shopping haven, Orchard Road. Unleash your inner shopaholic as you lose yourself in this popular shopping belt, both outdoors and underground. Flanked by endless malls, you can find everything from high-end designer buys boutiques to departmental stores, outdoor cafes, restaurants and cineplexes. The area is also especially breathtaking during Christmas season, with colorful and dazzling light displays along the roads.

View the comprehensive list of Singapore’s shopping centres.

Great Singapore SaleWhen is a good time to shop? Every day is a good day to shop in Singapore. But if you had to pick a time, the highly anticipated Great Singapore Sale, would be the annual event on every shopaholic’s calendar. Imagine a month-long stream of bargains at all major retailers and even heartland malls. You can even enjoy late-night shopping at major stores on the Central Shopping Belt from Orchard Road to Marina Square, which stay open till 11pm during the Sale. For round-the-clock shopping, try Mustafa Centre, a mall in Little India known for its wide range and affordable prices.

In spite of its cosmopolitan nature, which opens doors to rich and contemporary global influences, the city remains uniquely Asian.
Singapore’s Arts Festival 2009

The month from 15th May to 14th June presents an exciting array of performances for arts enthusiasts! The Singapore Arts Festival is an annual event held by the National Arts Council and showcases 7 new commissions, including 2 world premiers, 5 Asian premieres and 1 other Asian premiere that is jointly commissioned with international partners.

The line-up boasts 26 core productions and over 400 free outreach performances, exhibitions and special events. Viewers can expect to be enthralled by the extensive programme that ranges from premier classics to contemporary creations, which promise to captivate, engage and uplift.

Response to the 2009 Singapore’s Art Fest has been overwhelming as the event sees the most number of sold out productions since 2004. Popular performances include Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute” and a concert featuring music from cult video game ‘Final Fantasy’.

Singaporeans simply love good food. Whether it’s after a long day at work, or during the weekend, you’ll see them relishing their favourite dishes at the numerous hawker centres, cafes and fine dining restaurants that dot the island.

No wonder then that eating is said to be the country’s national pastime. If you share this passion for eating, Singapore is definitely your glorious food paradise. Guaranteed to whet your appetite and keep you coming back for more, Singapore food is more than just a blend of east and west. It has evolved over the years to become a cuisine in its own right and new delicious concoctions are always being created to reflect the growing diversity of Singapore culture. From local favourites like char kway teow, roti prata, and satay, to a fine selection of Mediterranean, South East Asian, American, European and Middle Eastern cuisine, Singapore has a mouth-watering array of cuisines to satisfy every palate. Even if you’re feeling peckish in the wee hours of the night, you’ll be glad to know that there are many restaurants in Singapore that open 24/7. If you like to wine and dine in style, check out the alfresco waterfront dining at the Marina Bay and One Fullerton.
